Sweet Cherry Blossom
Using my wide-angle macro lens, I was able to get underneath this beautiful sweet cherry blossom and shoot straight up in the air. This allowed me to have a clean simple background with the clouds, blue sky, and just the tips of a few other blossoms in the distance. I set my exposure manually for the sky and then used my fill flash to brighten the blossoms.

Todd Reed's Day 100 of 365
It looks to me like there is a moose on the loose in the area woodlands. I laugh as I make this portrait of "Bullwinkle" in the Buttersville campground.

Charlevoix Shapes
As darkness approaches, the colors of the sunset afterglow grow richer and the shapes of the Charlevoix pier and lighthouse become darker and bolder. I am looking for that perfect balance between light and dark, that moment of dusk when the view on this tranquil June evening is the perfect combination of whiskey and wine.
Holland Icons
Tulips and the 250-year-old DeZwaan Windmill are longstanding symbols of Holland's Dutch heritage and the famous Holland Tulip Festival. I placed my wide-angle lens amidst the tulips to make them stand out. The historic windmill, undergoing renovations for this year's festival, becomes a secondary yet highly visible subject.

Brad Reed's Day 100 of 365
The love of driving is an inherited Reed trait that has spanned several generations. It appears that both Julia and Ethan have received those genes as well.

Lansing Luminaries
My good friend, David Seaman of the Michigan Hospital Association, has told me I need to come to Lansing to photograph the holiday tree erected in front of the Michigan State Capitol. I first try shooting from a window in David's office. But the finished image is not moving me the way it should. So I start over, this time from on the street squarely in front of the tree and the capitol. Now I am seeing an image I think makes the elegant tree and elegant building enhance each other. Thanks, David!
Tulip Time
With my Wimberley tripod head on my Gitzo tripod, I slowly panned my 600mm lens as I looked at an endless field of tulips in Holland, Michigan. I didn't push the shutter until the scene inside my viewfinder felt great. As I panned over this lone tulip I knew I had found my winning composition.

Todd Reed's Day 101 of 365
A lone fisherman appears to have the sunset all to himself as he fishes from the end of the Ludington South Breakwater.

Life Leap
A Michigan steelhead leaps high in an attempt to get over a short dam on the Betsie River near Benzonia. The Betsie is among the many Michigan rivers that attract fishermen from across the country.
Sunsational
As it rises above other tulips and opens to receive more sunshine, this tulip stands out among hundreds the same color in one of the public parks in Holland, Michigan. The tulips have bloomed weeks early this year due to record warm weather in March.
