Fall splendor in Ludington is hard to beat! Todd and Brad Reed, along with Rachel Gaudette, are pleased to team up with Jenna and Chris Simpler, Cartier Mansion Bed and Breakfast owners, for an amazing weekend photographing the fall color and magic light around Ludington while indulging in exquisite meals in the historic Cartier Mansion. This three-story architectural marvel, still hailed as the city's finest home, continues to captivate with its timeless elegance. In 2024 it was voted the best Historic Bed & Breakfast in America by Newsweek. Pairing magical fall moments with Team Reed and the Simpler's hospitality will be an unforgettable experience.
Together, we will explore some of Team Reed's favorite shooting spots in the countryside and along the lakeshore, including Ludington's version of the Tunnel of Trees. The team will study the fall color and weather forecast during the week leading up to the workshop to customize the details and give participants the best photographic opportunities. The exact locations and times will be discussed at the workshop rather than before.
This workshop will not have a lot of teaching or instruction time like some of our other workshops that we offer. This workshop is geared towards shooting together out in the field and enjoying Mother Nature together while also enjoying incredible food together. If you are looking to learn how to use your camera on full manual and understand aperture, shutter speed, ISO, depth of field, light meters, histograms and our 20/20 Vision concepts we use to build stronger compositions, we recommend purchasing our Picture Perfect Workshop Video Series for $95 ahead of time and watching that entire seven-and-a-half-hour video before coming to this workshop. The price for the full experience of the workshop is $795. That price does not include lodging, but it does include the meals. Workshop participants can stay at one of the Cartier Mansion properties if rooms are still available or they can stay elsewhere. Please call the Cartier Mansion 231-843-0101 today to reserve your room. All participants staying at the Mansion properties and eating with us there need to call the Mansion to discuss any dietary restrictions if you have any. View room information here.
If you stay somewhere other than one of the Mansion’s properties, your price would be $670. If you do not stay at one of the Mansion’s properties, then you cannot eat with us at the Cartier Mansion (State laws prohibit this). It would be up to you to find food and a location to eat it during the scheduled mealtimes of the workshop.
We have a total of three “Food Only” options available for spouses/partners/guests of participating workshop students who are staying at one of the Mansion properties for $125.
