Mother Nature had been sending spectacular rainbows Michigan’s way for several days at the beginning of October so I was on high alert and already on the Lake Michigan shoreline when this ultra-vivid rainbow appeared over the Ludington lighthouse. I watched and photographed as this rainbow became more and more defined and the sky became more and more violet. I made this image during the less than 30-second absolute peak of color and definition. Nikon D850. F14 at 1/100, ISO 100. 70-200mm lens at 160mm. On a tripod without a flash.
