Double Rainbow over Weldon Creek Farms
I had just arrived at my parent’s home east of Custer, Michigan, and the smell of homemade chicken soup was in the air, dinner was ready! My two kids and two nieces were already seated at the table when we started to see the glow of the sunset through the kitchen window. We ran outside to watch and what we found was an incredible rainbow to the east! I hurried to get the tripod and camera out. The rainbow started to get more intense, and the double appeared at the same time as we were seeing beautiful magic light from the sunset. The light was hitting the tops of the trees; it was one of the most incredible scenes that I’ve ever witnessed! I was able to get a few shots off before the intense glow started to fade. What an incredible sight to see and share with the family!

Blue Storm Light
Blue Storm Light
A November gale shook my Jeep, as if one of those coin-operated kiddy rides, when I pulled into the Ludington beach. I knew I was looking at a great picture; making it would be the challenge. A bean bag on the roof of my rocking vehicle was out of the question. The 35-millimeter camera and telephoto lens shook like Jell-O on my heavy tripod. Searching for a solution, I spotted a sturdy lifeguard tower. I climbed it, lay on the floor with the camera and lens braced in the top of my soft camera bag, and shot away.

Breathtaking Bond Falls
Breathtaking Bond Falls
What better way to spend a beautiful fall day than traveling across Lake Michigan on the SS Badger on our way to shoot the vibrant color in the Upper Peninsula. Todd and Debbie Reed, Brad and Betsy Reed, Sarah Genson and I decided to have a fall get-away to the UP. It was a bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, and smooth sailing way to start our journey. We then traveled through Wisconsin towards the Porcupine Mountains. We knew we wanted to make a stop at Bond Falls, and the closer it got to dark, the more worried we were that we would miss shooting the sunset there. We made it, got our waterproof clothing on and hurried to the falls. It was a stunning experience and a great way to end our first day of shooting!

Reflections of Bond Falls
Reflections of Bond Falls
In the fall of 2013 Todd and Debbie Reed, Brad and Betsy Reed, Sarah Genson and I headed north on a shooting adventure. After a long day of traveling on our way to the Porcupine Mountains, starting off with a trip across Lake Michigan on the SS Badger, and a drive through Wisconsin, we stopped at Bond Falls to shoot, arriving at sunset. It was incredibly beautiful and we had great light. After getting the shots they wanted, most of the group headed back to the car, and Sarah and I weren't far behind, when we were stopped by this scene. We stayed behind for one last shot. It was worth it!!

Quillis
Quillis
My good friends, Joe and Tracy Cooper, had put a photo on Facebook yesterday of a porcupine that was hanging out in their front yard. I contacted Tracy and asked if I could come over and photograph it with my big camera. After I got her permission, my daughter Julia and I drove to their home south of Ludington and found "Quillis" chilling and eating some apples. It was raining and very windy outside, but this little guy didn't seem to be bothered by anything. Julia and I had a blast photographing him.
