It is always fun when the ice balls start to show up along the Lake Michigan shoreline every winter. They look particularly cool with magic light hitting them at the first curve inside the Ludington State Park.

Some trees have personality. I love movies like Lord of the Rings where trees come alive and walk. This tree appears to be striding through the dunes at Ludington State Park. I like its posture.

Outrage
Right after making this image, I found a dirty diaper in the dunes. I was outraged that a parent would be that irresponsible and would litter on the beach at the Ludington State Park.
Count Your Blessings
Before my mother-in-law, Sharon Verduin, passed away from cancer, I remember her telling my kids that when they couldn't fall asleep at night that instead of counting sheep, they should count their blessings. I loved that idea and have done it several times myself and it always makes me smile.
Porch Sitting
I have witnessed many a storm while living in Michigan for more than 70 years. I watched from my porch overlooking Ludington harbor as this front swept ashore on August 2, 2015, bringing with it the most spectacular mammatus clouds I had ever seen.
