Todd Reed's Day 247 of 365
Magic light graced my wife Debbie's birthday party at our family cabin along the Pere Marquette River. My brother Budde and I planted these red pine trees 10 years ago. Now they have become a beautiful presence on our land. Tonight they complement the sky.

Second Curve
I never tire of the adrenaline rush I get when I see a great sunset forming, especially when I am not in position to shoot it yet. When I first realized that I needed to get to the shoreline of Lake Michigan tonight to shoot the sunset, I was standing on the tarmac at the Mason County Airport. I knew I only had about 15 minutes to get into position. I rushed off to the second curve at Ludington State Park and this was my reward.

Rachel’s Day 252 of 366 - September 8, 2020
Storm clouds can be mesmerizing as they rapidly fly across the sky. These particular clouds seemed to have a wave motion to them. I waited for them to position themselves above the trees in the way that I was envisioning.

Our 365 Project would not be possible if it were not for our general manager at the gallery, Sarah Genson. Today she came to visit us at our family cabin on the Pere Marquette River. If you look closely you can see her yellow sweater against the red siding.

Tonight's Show
People willing to walk a mile for a sunset get the best front row seats possible for watching another Lake Michigan light show. With every sunset episode being different, many of us never tire of heading to the Lake Michigan waterfront to watch the sun dip into the lake or the clouds.

Brad’s Day 253 of 366 - September 9, 2020
When my Grandma Reed died last year, each family got to pick out one of her large Santa dolls. I leave this Santa out all year for us to enjoy and to remember all the wonderful Christmas gatherings at my Grandpa and Grandma Reed’s house. I used my macro lens and made this close-up image tonight.
Living the Dream
Family times around a bonfire are one of the best Michigan summertime traditions. Residents of Crosswinds at Ludington relax around the fire after taking in a Lake Michigan sunset.

Rachel’s Day 253 of 366 - September 9, 2020
I was drawn to the design of my butter dish from the second I saw it in the store. Tonight, I focused on showing it off in a unique shot.
Werewolf Moon
I am not a big fan of scary movies, but it occurs to me as the moon rises past an ominous-looking cloud that this would be a perfect shot of the moon to use in a horror show.

Brad’s Day 254 of 366 - September 10, 2020
Another shelf cloud was quickly heading to shore this morning as I was heading to work. I drove to Stearns Beach and ran down to the water’s edge to make this image before the storm came on shore.
Heritage Celebration
Displaying their pride in Indian traditions and in being Americans and Michiganders, Indians take part in the Native American Pow Wow at the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan. The public pow wow was presented by the local Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

Brad Reed's Day 249 of 365
While taking a shower tonight, I noticed tiny water droplets on our new shower curtain. About an hour later, I came back with my camera and tripod and looked for some cool patterns and then made this photograph.

Native American Dancer
Native American Todd Brewer showcases his traditional Indian attire and his dancing skills at the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan. Brewer works in Northern Michigan as a paramedic and fireman. I admire his devotion to his heritage as well as his dedication to helping others in times of need.

Brad’s Day 255 of 366 - September 11, 2020
After eating a wonderful dinner at my dad and Debbie’s condo that Debbie had made for us, I walked across the street with my camera gear to try and find a photograph. I was planning on photographing some of the boats in the marina or the Badger, but when I got to the end of the dock and looked down at the water, I knew I had found my image of the day.
Todd Reed's Day 250 of 365
The Badger steams through stormy waves toward the Ludington pierheads. Watching the sturdy ship and its crew battle the elements makes for exciting live drama. I imagine many of the carferry passengers are not enjoying the ride as much as I am enjoying watching.

Michigan Grown
One of the features I enjoy at the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City is the booths featuring Michigan cherry products. The sight of these sweet and tart cherries at the Cherry Connection, Edmondson Orchards booth is making my wife and me very hungry as we make this picture. Summer in Michigan is never complete for us without eating Michigan sweet cherries and cherry pie. These sweet and tart cherries were grown on the Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City.

Rachel’s Day 255 of 366 - September 11, 2020
Growing up around the farm, we were fortunate for the amount of wildlife we would see on a daily basis. Now my kids get to enjoy the wildlife. We have watched this fawn and her twin all summer.
Brad Reed's Day 250 of 365
While trying to shoot some photos of people salmon fishing near the twin bridges in Ludington, I decided to turn my attention towards the beautiful cattails along the southern shore. With the blowing wind, I had to time it right with the correct angle and a good cloud pattern behind.

Carrying on the Tradition
I am looking through my viewfinder at one of the most color-rich scenes I have ever seen as Native American children dance toward me at the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan. I love that these children are learning to carry on the traditions of their ancestors.

Brad’s Day 256 of 366 - September 12, 2020
Another goldfinch was back in the same butterfly bush that I had photographed earlier in the year. This time instead of a green backdrop, I wanted my red house to be the backdrop. I knew the yellow bird would rocket out against the red siding.
