Presque Isle Potholes
River of Angels
After a week straight of rainfall at Porcupine Mountains State Park, the flooded Presque Isle River was a raging torrent on October 11, 2018. As I looked down from a bridge over the river near its terminus at Lake Superior, I was struck by the thought that the various paths the water was taking made the water look like angel’s wings. A 10-second time exposure helped me accentuate that feeling
Presque Isle River
The foreground in this photograph of Manido Falls is the most important part of the composition. When focusing on building a strong middle ground and background, it is easy to forget the most important part, the foreground. I micro-composed the image so that the orange tree would show up in the reflection of the water in the foreground.

Presque Isle Cove
Michigan's Upper Peninsula residents are fond of identifying as "trolls" those of us who live under the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. I am a happy troll today appreciating all of the rock and stone at Black Rocks Beach at Presque Isle in the Upper Peninsula. This rocky cove has an all-stone beach. It is a rock lover's delight.
