My dad and I are fortunate that our gallery customers give us hints that help us capture some of our best photographs at the Ludington State Park. Last fall, a traveling nurse from the Ludington hospital stopped in the gallery and told me about a flaming red and orange tree she had seen the day before on the Ridge Trail at the park. With her detailed directions, I was able to easily spot the tree and was lucky enough to walk away with a smile on my face.

Brad’s Day 311 of 366 - November 6, 2020
The setting sun shining on dune grass and lighting up the shoreline is one of my favorite things to witness. I made this image at the north end of Stearns Park tonight. This is one of the best images I have made so far in 2020.

Enjoying Big Red
Enjoying Big Red
Tonight was Julia's and Ethan's first visit to Holland's lighthouse, Big Red. They had a blast playing in the sand together as I photographed boats coming and going in the busy Holland channel. It was over 70 degrees at sunset and it looked and felt more like July than October.

A Northwester churns up Lake Michigan, turning the lakeshore dunes into a sea of blowing snow. February days like this one make most people long for spring. I never want to miss a good Northwester any time of year.

Sleeping Bear Sunrise - Panoramic
Sleeping Bear Sunrise - Panoramic
Watching the sun rise over the Sleeping Bear Dunes is like watching a moving picture because the light and shadow change so quickly. With the camera on the tripod, I can savor the show and make an exposure whenever I am loving the moment I am witnessing. Fuji S2. F11 at 1/30, ISO 100. 12-24mm lens at 17mm.
