Brad Reed\'s Day 33 of 365
Brad Reed's Day 33 of 365
My dad and I have been hoping for another big snowfall to hit Mason County, but so far this winter has been very hit or miss in terms of any snow accumulation. That has forced us to look deeper for good photographic moments. I found this snow, ice and water along the inner North Breakwater in Ludington. F10.0 at 1/5, ISO 100, 70-200 mm lens at 200 mm

Golden Reflections
Golden Reflections
Today on the Little Cedar Creek near the Muskegon River, the golden light hitting the trees created a beautiful reflection. The hardest part of making this image was avoiding my own reflection.

I stood on a stool inside of my kitchen and then shot through the window towards my bird feeders outside. I have always loved the color blue. Blue jays are beautiful birds and for whatever reason have always reminded me of my dad. I was happy to make this image.

The shrill sound of coyotes howling on the opposite side of the river breaks the silence as my oldest son Tad and I appreciate the winter beauty of the Pere Marquette River in the twilight. This view of the meandering river is our reward for trekking by foot and ski to our family cabin, "Daylight In The Swamp," to enjoy a winter getaway. F6.3 at 30.0, ISO 100, 12-24 mm lens at 24 mm

Two Swans a Swimming
Two Swans a Swimming
A pair of trumpeter swans graces the Sable River at Ludington State Park. The threatened native Michigan species has been getting some help in launching a comeback. The band on one of these birds marks it as one introduced to the area by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians. The "11K" on the band helps naturalists keep track of its whereabouts.

Brad’s Day 366 of 366 - December 31, 2020
I was at complete peace being the only human out at Big Sable Point Lighthouse tonight to shoot the last sunset of 2020. It has been a challenging year for most people around the world, but it has also proven to be an incredibly beautiful and wonderful year. I ended the year at my favorite place on Earth. I always feel at home at Big Sable.

Having A Vision
Having A Vision
This morning my dad and I drove to the middle of the state on US10 so we could photograph Dow Gardens in Midland. As the sun was rising we found this tree between Reed City and Evart. The fog mixed with intense sunlight created a beautiful scene in front of us. I stopped my lens down to F22 in order to make the rays of sunlight show up more distinctly.

Some sunsets are truly out of this world. This cloud looked like a giant UFO with crazy neon orange lights shooting out from the top of it. It reminded me of the last scene in E.T. It was an exhilarating few minutes watching this light show at Stearns Beach in downtown Ludington.

I can see clearly that this is a picture waiting to be taken. I can't help but chuckle looking at the "face" of these binoculars standing alone on the Ludington waterfront. They remind me of a recent television commercial depicting faces in everyday objects. I like this face. F13.0 at 20.0, ISO 100, 12- 24 mm lens at 24 mm
