A Spring Sunset in Ludington
A Spring Sunset in Ludington
Spring is in the air early this year. I hope we have a very warm spring and summer because that will really help our local economy, and it just puts people in a good mood. The sun is a powerful drug! F4.5 at 1/125, ISO 100, 70-200mm lens at 200mm

For years our family has stopped on US31 near the Susan Creek Nature Preserve along Lake Michigan between Petoskey and Charlevoix to look for Petoskey stones. This vantage also provides a great view of the lake, and tonight I am witnessing one of the most cobalt blue skies I have ever seen. I am so glad that I have my camera, tripod, and waterproof shoes so I can capture the moment. F11 at 1.3 seconds, ISO 100, 14mm lens at 14mm

Sunset Splash

A wave bursts over one of the pilings left from a dock that once jutted out into Lake Michigan at Oval Beach in Saugatuck. I like the repetitive patterns of the worn pilings and the way the waves and light play on them at sunset on a June evening. F8 at 1/320, ISO 800, 24-70mm lens at 32mm

Sunset Over North Manitou
Sunset Over North Manitou
I am one of many visitors and local residents alike gathered on the Lake Michigan shoreline at Leland to watch the sun set over North Manitou Island. Experiences like this are why Michigan is such a special place to live or to visit. F22 at 0.4, ISO 100, 14-24mm lens at 20mm

Subtle Sunset on Lake Michigan
Subtle Sunset on Lake Michigan
The sunset tonight at the Little Black Creek Outlet at P.J. Hoffmaster State Park in Muskegon, Michigan was a great way to end Week 36 of the Tuesdays Project. I waded into the water to get in front of the c-shaped sand bar. This also helped put the reflection of the clouds in just the right spot. F22 at 0.5, ISO 100, 18-50mm lens at 18mm

Sunset Meander
The golden light of the setting sun is showcasing the zigzag pattern Porter Creek is taking this evening. I love the way this outlet changes shape and course as the water finds the path of least resistance to Lake Michigan. It is one of countless magical natural places in the Nordhouse Dunes Federal Wilderness. F8 at 1/640, ISO 400, 80-200mm lens at 135mm

Cresting a steep hill on US10, I am greeted by an impressive view of the sun setting over the Michigan countryside near Evart. I pull over quickly, grab the camera and tripod and try to make a picture that conveys the beauty of this rural Michigan landscape view. F4.5 at 1/1600, ISO 1600, 300mm lens at 300mm

I am hoping to catch the sun setting over St. Joseph Lighthouse. Clouds change my plan. The sun peeks out beneath the clouds just in time for the Young Flight sculpture at St. Joseph beach to catch the light. I think the sculpture by Gail Mally-Mack and the backdrop by Mother Nature complement each other. F22 at 2.5 seconds, ISO 100, 14-24mm lens at 14mm

Sunset Over the Jetties
Sunset Over the Jetties
The golden sunlight says goodbye to us tonight as we photograph along the shores of Lake Michigan at the Ludington State Park. It is always fun making images of the jetties at the First Curve along M116. F9 at 1/40, ISO 100, 18-50mm lens at 27mm
