Brad Reed's Day 174 of 365
A fisherman slowly paddles to one of his favorite fishing holes on Lincoln Lake near Cartier Park. Mount Epworth is aglow behind him as the clouds make beautiful reflections on the calm water. F2.8 at 1/160, ISO 100, 18-50 mm lens at 20 mm

Between Seasons
Between Seasons
All is quiet on the Silver Lake waterfront on an autumn evening. Rental canoes remain stacked along the shore. The sun has set on another tourist season at one of Michigan's busiest and most spectacular summer fun spots. I love the stillness and the visual simplicity the lack of activity provides.

Dunegrass Perspective

Shot on the morning of October 25, 2019 by Todd Reed. Todd and Brad were conducting an Advanced Weekend Workshop with several students. The early dawn sun illuminates the brickwork of the lighthouse and lends a special depth to the image.

Top of Little Sable
Top of Little Sable
The shoreline at Little Sable Point extends westward toward Wisconsin farther than any spot of land in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. I feel on top of the world looking southwest over Lake Michigan from the tower observation deck over 100 feet above the shore atop Little Sable Point Lighthouse.

Todd Reed's Day 19 of 365
Before a big house was built in front of our picture windows, my wife and I enjoyed an unobstructed, grand scenic world-class view of the Lake Michigan shoreline from Ludington to Little Sable Point. Now I use the "twice-as-close rule" to narrow my focus and exclude the big house from the images I make in front of our home. F6.3 at 1/125, ISO 100, 80-200 mm lens at 130 mm

We Love Silver Lake
We Love Silver Lake
Rising dramatically from the Silver Lake shoreline, sections of the Silver Lake Sand Dunes look as grand as the Egyptian Pyramids to me on a September day. The light and shadow playing on the dunes often is the best after the masses have left. We love exploring the dunes during the quieter times of year, especially during September and October when the light is often magical.

Dune Masterpiece
Dune Masterpiece
The Silver Lake Sand Dunes are home to many good times and great memories for thousands of people. You can feel the energy that the bustling atmosphere produces. If you wander long enough, you can find areas on the dunes that look as if they have been untouched by humans for hundreds of years. When I was photographing this scene I was amazed at the apparent lack of human presence. It was not until I gave this photograph to my grandma, Bev Marble, for Christmas, that I was aware of the litter present in the scene.

Like seeing a wondrous mirage in a desert, it was hard to distinguish reality from illusion as I looked across Silver Lake shortly after sunrise on an October morning.
