Spring at Au Train Falls
Au Train Falls is my favorite waterfall to photograph because you can stand right in the water. That helps photographers create strong immediacy and make the viewers of the work feel like they are really there experiencing the waterfall for themselves. My camera and lens got very wet, but that is the reason for insurance!

Water Grain
The ripples in the water, combined with the reflections of the sky and clouds make this photograph of Hamlin Lake look like blue and silver grains of wood. I never tire of making compositions like this one. Someday I hope to do an entire book on ripples and reflections on water.

On the Job Training
Taking one for the team, Brad hangs in there as he and his camera are engulfed by a breaking wave. This is one of Brad's first Great Lakes wave adventures with an underwater camera housing for his Nikon D7000 camera loaned to us for the Tuesdays Project.

Dad's WWII Training Plane
My dad, Bud Reed, flew a Stearman airplane like this during pilot training in World War II so I am especially anxious to get an in-flight photograph of the open-cockpit biplane during its appearance in Ludington to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Double Rainbow Over Cherry Hill Farm
While I was making a sunrise photograph this morning along the Pere Marquette River, my uncle, Rod Marble, called to tell me he was looking at the largest double rainbow he had ever seen. I stood up, turned around, and almost fainted. I instantly knew where I needed to head. My destination was Cherry Hill Farm on Conrad Road.

Autumn at AuTrain
A small section of AuTrain Falls catches my photo eye this October morning. The green grasses, leaves, and streams of water make it look to me like a waterfall garden. The scene looks far prettier to me than when I was here in the spring.

Running in the Rain
While walking past the Dahlmann Campus Inn in downtown Ann Arbor today, we noticed a cool sculpture and fountain. Upon further investigation we found Colonel Mustard playing in the rain. The fanciful sculpture looked even better when the magic light shone down on him from above.

October Rain
The blue line around the outside edge of this leaf stood out to me as I was walking through a creek near the corner of Peterson and Fisher roads. Rainy days can be perfect for photographing fall color.

Training Day
Waves roll into the Grand Haven Channel despite the protection from the north wind provided by the north pier. Meanwhile two Coast Guard self-righting motor lifeboats train in larger waves further offshore.

Raindrops
A very young pine tree stands proud among more mature pines and hardwoods near the Pere Marquette River. With the much-needed rain we got overnight, I could almost see this little tree growing before my eyes.
