This Image of Munising Falls was taken from a viewing platform partway up one of two stairways flanking the appoximately 50-foot-high falls. This sandstone cliff falls lies within the city limits of Munising and is one of the more easily accessible waterfalls in the Upper Peninsula. While autumn is our favorite time of year to view Munising Falls, photographing it frozen solid in the heart of a U.P. winter or peak water flow toward winter's end is a visual treat as well.
I had been an avid fan of Outdoor Photographer for several decades when my favorite magazine selected one of my images of Munising Falls to grace the cover of their October 2016 issue. Several other photographs made by my son Brad and me illustrated our six-page story about discovering and photographing fall color in Michigan. We were proud to see Michigan’s autumn splendor showcased nationally.
