Brad Reed\'s Day 1 of 366
Brad Reed's Day 1 of 366
I could think of no better way to start 2020 than by celebrating New Year’s in downtown Ludington. By hanging out the upstairs window of our gallery as far as I could with my camera on a tripod, I was able to make this image of the New Year’s ball drop.

Todd Reed's Day 1 of 365
Like the thousands of other people packing downtown Ludington on New Year's Eve, I am overwhelmed with excitement and a sense of community spirit as the giant ball touches down to mark the start of 2010. The ball drop is one of the coolest events in the history of Ludington, both literally and figuratively speaking. F4.0 at 1/10, ISO 1600, 12-24 mm lens at 12 mm

Brad Reed's Day 2 of 365
We headed up to Crystal Mountain early this morning to be judges for the photo contest during the Teddy Knape Film Festival. I was dying to shoot some actions photos with our brand new 600 mm Nikon F4 lens. As my dad tore down the fall line on Loki, I tried to capture the intensity on his face. Brad Reed's Day 3 of 365
I was feeling down and out from a nasty chest cold earlier today so decided to drive by the house I grew up in on the corner of Pere Marquette and Ferry in Ludington. Driving by this house, especially in the winter, always makes me feel better. F22.0 at 1/15, ISO 100, 18-50 mm lens at 18 mm

Brad Reed's Day 4 of 365
Just in four days the 365 Project has already been forcing me to get out of my comfort zone and try to explore and photograph some new locations. Standing on the old train depot in Ludington, I could imagine my great-great-grandparents and other relatives working on the railroad here almost 100 years ago. Heavenly Glory
"Heavenly Glory” by Todd Reed Victory Trinity Lutheran Church has long been one of my photographic muses. My favorite country church came to mind while I was photographing the aurora borealis over Mount Epworth at Lincoln Lake. Rather than head home after finishing that image, I drove straight to the church a few miles away. I could see the color and rays of the Northern Lights clearly with my naked eye even before shutting off all my vehicle lights. I knew immediately my decision to come here instead of going home was a good one. I was especially pleased that the sanctuary lights had been left on even though no one appeared to be there. While shooting several time exposures to fine tune my composition and exposure, I watched two possums and seven deer cross the road and peacefully pass near me. I wonder if they were aware of the phenomenal sky I felt privileged to be witnessing. Nikon D850. F4, 130 seconds, 800 ISO. 24-70mm lens at 24mm. On a tripod without a flash. I have been obsessed with old ship propellers and anchors my whole life. I must not be the only one because they are common sculptures and art pieces today around the world. I love Ludington’s old carferry relics. I found this grouping of propellers on the grounds near the Badger today and couldn’t resist making an image.

A setting full moon greets us as Brad and I wait for dawn's early light. The light of the moon should give us a jump on spotting a snowy owl we know is hanging out in a West Michigan field.

Brad Reed's Day 7 of 365
Except for four years of college in Grand Rapids, I have lived in Ludington all my life. In that time, I have always been intrigued with the old Thompson Cabinet Company building near Pere Marquette Lake. I was pleasantly surprised to find this American flag hanging in the window today. Making Memories
Making Memories
Generations of families have enjoyed decades of fun and quality time together while camping at one of the three amazing campgrounds in Ludington State Park. Most families have a favorite spot that they try to reserve in January for the coming year. Good food, laughter, and fun stories are often shared around the campfire and great memories are made for all.
