Heaven on Hamlin
Heaven on Hamlin
A golden sunrise over Hamlin Lake is hard to beat. I really like all the layers in this photograph. The soft rays of light in the clouds combined with the beautiful ripples on the water made for a picture perfect moment this morning as I stood with my camera and tripod near the warming shelter on the north end of the Island Trail at the Ludington State Park. Brad Reed's Day 132 of 366
A fisherman on Hamlin Lake enjoys a sunset by himself on a peaceful spring night. While making this image, I got excited thinking about boating this coming summer on Hamlin Lake with family and friends.

When my brothers and I were younger we spent a lot of time on the beach at Partridge Point on Lower Hamlin Lake. I returned to that beach tonight for the first time in years hoping for a good sunset. To my excitement, the sunset was spectacular. F9.0 at 1/15, ISO 100, 18-50 mm lens at 40 mm

In October of 2009 I had stood in the same spot and made a photograph showing the South Bayou of Hamlin Lake during the peak of the fall color. Tonight, I want to show the same view with the beautiful late spring flowers and lush green leaves. I intend to return for a summer and winter shot as well. Betsy and I took the kids to play on the playground at Wilson Park on upper Hamlin Lake tonight. Wilson Park is located at the very end of Jebavy Drive and is a beautiful little park and a busy boat-launching site in the summer time. I made this photograph from the dock at the boat launch. I don’t believe I have ever made an image at Lincoln Lake. I left Ludington later than I had planned, and sunset was fading fast. I parked past the bridge on M-116 and walked quickly in between cars to capture this sunset over Lincoln Lake.

Rachel’s Day 212 of 366 - July 30, 2020
Todd, Brad, and I explored the Hamlin Dunes today. It was fun climbing portions that I haven’t visited before. The bright sun created some fun shadows in the sand.

The bridge on Jebavy Drive over the Lincoln River seems wide while driving your vehicle on it, but as a pedestrian holding a camera, those cars seem mighty close zooming by at 55 miles per hour. While questioning my risk assessment, I made the shot just in time. F8.0 at 1/100, ISO 100, 18-50 mm lens at 18 mm
